Virginia Duenkel

Virginia Duenkel (born March 7, 1947 in Orange , New Jersey ) is a former American swimmer .

Her strongest routes were the 200 m back and 1500 m freestyle , but these routes were not Olympic when she was active. So she started at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 over 100 m back and 400 m freestyle. She won the bronze medal over 100 m back. One day later, however, she was able to achieve the Olympic victory in the 400 m freestyle .

In 1985 she was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
