Lorraine Crapp
Lorraine Joyce Crapp AM , married Thurlow (born October 17, 1938 in Sydney ) is a former Australian swimmer .
At the Summer Olympics in Melbourne in 1956 , she was over 400 m freestyle and Olympic champion with the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay. In the 100 m freestyle she had to admit defeat to her compatriot Dawn Fraser . In this close race, both swimmers stayed below the jointly held world record. At the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome , she won the silver medal again with the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay. After these games, she ended her career.
In 1972 she was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
