Brooke Bennett

Brooke Marie Bennett (born May 6, 1980 in Tampa ) is an American swimmer.

She was Olympic champion in the 800 meter freestyle at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta . Four years later she won at the Summer Olympics in Sydney , both the 400 meters and the 800 meters freestyle. She narrowly missed the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens finishing third in the American eliminations as she previously had to undergo operations on both sides of her shoulders.
