Masacre is a Colombian death metal band that was formed in Medellín in 1988 .

history

The band was formed in 1988. The first demo appeared in 1989 under the name Colombia… Imperio del terror , which was followed by the second demo in the following year under the name Cáncer de nuestros días . In 1991 the EP Ola de violencia was released . This made the French label Osmose Productions aware of the band, which released their debut album Requiem in 1991 . Then the band went on tour and played in Colombia, Ecuador , Venezuela and Peru .

In 1992 the band appeared on a split release . It was then the EP Ola de Violencia , as well as two live songs included. The US-American band Profanatica could also be heard on the sound carrier, although they actually did not want to participate in the release and described Masacre as an unsuitable band. In 1993 the EP Barbarie y sangre en memoria de Cristo followed via Mórbida Productions . In the same year drummer Mauricio "Bull Metal" left Montoya Masacre and founded the black metal band Typhon; In his opinion, Masacre lacked the earlier brutality, which is why Osmose Productions terminated the contract with the band. Then in 1996 the album Sacro was released on Lorito Records . This was followed by appearances in Colombia and Venezuela. After this tour the band played in Ecuador.

In 1999 three songs that should appear on the later album Muerte verdadera muerte . In June, the Argentine label Hurling Metal Records included live tracks on their compilation. Tribulación Records also released a compilation that included a song by Barbarie y sangre en memoria de Cristo .

In 2001 Decade Records signed the band and released the album Muerte verdadera muerte . The release was followed by a tour of Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador, which continued in 2002. During the tour the band wrote new material. In 2004 the next album Total Death followed . The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Erik Rutan ( Hate Eternal , Ex- Morbid Angel ) at Mana Recording Studios in Tampa , Florida . The publication was followed by the Muerte total tour through South America with performances in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru , Bolivia , Argentina and Chile .

style

The band plays classic death metal, comparing the music with old works by Morbid Angel .
