Masanobu Takayanagi

Masanobu Takayanagi ( Japanese 高 柳 雅 暢 , Takayanagi Masanobu , born in Gunma ) is a Japanese cameraman who has worked in films such as Warrior and Silver Linings .

Life

Masanobu Takayanagi was born and raised in Gunma Prefecture . He studied linguistics at Tōhoku University , but his growing interest in camera work led him to move to Los Angeles and study film and English at California State University, Long Beach . He continued his education at the American Film Institute and graduated with an MFA in camera work. From the year 2000 he worked on a few short films, furthermore he worked as a simple cameraman and as a cameraman in the second unit . In this role he was involved in Babel and State of Play, for example . Rodrigo Prieto was the chief cameraman for both productions . Since 2010 he has been working regularly as an independent cameraman. In September 2015 he became a member of the American Society of Cinematographers . In 2003 he received the ASC Heritage Award.
