Masepynzi ( Ukrainian Мазепинці , Russian Мазепинцы Masepinzy , Polish Mazepińce ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast of Kiev with about 400 inhabitants.
The village belongs, together with the neighboring village Drosdy ( Дрозди ), to the district council of Drosdy in the northwest of the Bila Tserkva district . Masepynzi is located on the banks of the Kamjanka ( Кам'янка ), a 105 km long tributary of the Ros 16 kilometers northwest of the Rajon center Bila Tserkva and about 73 kilometers southwest of the city center of Kiev .
The village, founded around 1500, was under its Polish name Mazepińce in the Kiev Voivodeship of the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania until 1667 , after which it came to the Russian Empire and later to the Ukrainian SSR within the Soviet Union . Since 1991 the place belongs to the independent Ukraine.
Personalities
The Ukrainian Cossack hetman Ivan Masepa was born on an estate in the local area in 1639 .
