Rigoni competed in his first world cup competition as part of the Four Hills Tournament 1979/80 . In doing so, however, he usually only ended up in the rear. For the Four Hills Tournament in 1980/81 he was also unsuccessful, but was able to improve his performance. For the first competition after the tour on February 21, 1981 in Thunder Bay , he surprisingly took 5th place and was able to achieve World Cup points for the first time. A month later at the season finale in Planica , he was able to repeat this performance and again took 5th place. At the end of the season he was 33rd in the overall World Cup with 22 points. For the Four Hills Tournament 1981/82 he was able to increase his performance again compared to the previous year, but still remained pointless in this competition. In the jumping in Thunder Bay, however, he was able to convince again as in the previous year and this year even made it onto the podium with two second places in both competitions. He repeated this success in Engelberg .
At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1982 Rigoni jumped 12th on the normal hill and 28th on the large hill. The remaining competitions of the season were also successful for him. After two third places, he finished 7th in the overall World Cup ranking. However, he could no longer build on this success.
At the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo he was in the Italian squad and finished jumping on the normal hill in 16th and jumping on large hill in 34th place. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1985 he appeared again on the normal hill and reached 51st place there. After further unsuccessful jumping, Rigoni ended his active ski jumping career in 1987 at the age of 26.
