Masumi Aoki ( Japanese 青木 益 未 , Aoki Masumi ; born April 16, 1994 in the city ​​of Okayama ) is a Japanese athlete who competes in sprint and hurdles .

Athletic career

Masumi Aoki gained her first international experience at the 2011 Youth World Championships near Lille , where she made it to the semi-finals in the 200-meter run and was eliminated in the preliminary round with the Japanese sprint relay (1000 meters). In 2014 she first took part in the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea , where she was eliminated from the 100 meter hurdles in the first round and won the bronze medal behind the teams from China and in the Japanese 4 x 100 meter relay in 44.05 seconds Kazakhstan. In 2016 she was fourth at the Asian Indoor Championships in Doha over 60 m hurdles in 8.36 s. In 2018 she again took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta , where she finished fifth in 13.63 m over the hurdles and also placed on this rank with the relay. The following year she won the bronze medal in the hurdles race at the Asian Championships in Doha in 13.28 seconds behind her compatriot Ayako Kimura and Chen Jiamin from China. At the IAAF World Relays in Yokohama , she and Ayako Kimura, Shunya Takayama and Taiō Kanai won the silver medal in the hurdles pendulum relay, which was held for the first time.

In 2018 Aoki became Japanese champion in the 100 meter hurdles . She completed a degree in sports science at the International Pacific University (English for Kan-Taiheiyō Daigaku ) in Okayama .
