Matchmaker is a feature documentary film by the young director Gabrielle Antosiewicz, shot in Switzerland in 2005.

The term matchmaker is the English name of the Jewish matchmaker (also called Schadchen ) and is known as the song title from the musical Fiddler On The Roof .

The thirty-year-old Jewish director is looking for the right - Jewish - man in Zurich . Not an easy undertaking, as there are only a few dozen candidates to choose from. In a self-experiment, she invited three Jews to bake two challot (traditional Jewish shabbat pots ) with her at home .

In between, she uses three family portraits to tell how different and multifaceted Jewish life is in Switzerland. Kosher love stories are told, the secret under women's wigs is revealed, the sporting activities of orthodox people are shown and internet connection sites are presented. And in the end there are six baked loaves on the kitchen table ...
