Matheus Henrique de Souza (born December 19, 1997 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian soccer player who is currently under contract with Grêmio Porto Alegre . The midfielder has been the Brazilian international since October 2019 .

Career

In 2014, Matheus Henrique switched to the youth department of the AD São Caetano , after he had previously been released from the Grêmio Porto Alegres . In the 2015 season he was promoted to the first team and made his debut in the Campeonato Paulista on March 28, 2015 in a 4-0 away win against Guaratinguetá Futebol . In this game met in the closing stages after being substituted on. This season he came to two missions in the jersey of the Azulãos . He scored his first goal for his club on October 27 (31st matchday) in a 3: 4 home defeat against Sport Recife . This season he played 12 league games in which he scored twice.

In the next season of 2019 he was already an important part of the starting line-up of head coach Renato Gaúcho . In mid-August 2019, he signed a new four-year contract with Grêmio. With the Tricolor he reached the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores 2019 , where they failed against league rivals Flamengo Rio de Janeiro . He ended the season with 20 appearances in the league, in which he remained without a goal.

National team

In June 2019, he took part with the Brazilian U23 national team in the tournament in Toulon , where he was used in all five games and contributed one goal to Brazil's final victory.

On October 10, 2019, he made his A-team debut when he was substituted on for Arthur Melo in the 68th minute of the 1-1 draw in the friendly international match against Senegal .
