Mathieu-Joseph Jungbluth

Mathieu-Joseph Jungbluth (born April 6, 1807 in Heinsberg , Département de la Roer , French Empire ; † May 6, 1875 in Ixelles near Brussels , Belgium ) was a German portrait and history painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Jungbluth was a student at the drawing school of Johann Baptist Joseph Bastiné in Aachen . From around the middle of the 1820s he studied painting under Wilhelm Schadow at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . In 1829 he appeared there through a painting of St. Cecilia and a male portrait. From around 1839/1840 he worked as a portraitist and drawing teacher in Bergen , Hainaut Province .

Jungbluth married the British Sara-Isabelle Parker, who gave birth to the daughter Marie-Rosine (1844–1901) and the son Harry (1847–1930). The son, who in 1868 took the Belgian nationality, was Lieutenant General (Lieutenant-général) of the Belgian Armed Forces and commanded from 1909 to 1930 as Adjutant General (adjudant général) , the bodyguard (Maison du Roi militaire) of the Belgian King Albert I.
