Mathilde Bauermeister

Mathilde Bauermeister (* 1849 in Hamburg ; † October 15, 1926 in Herne Bay , England ) was a German opera singer with a soprano voice .

Life

Mathilde Bauermeister studied singing with Francesco Schira and Therese Tietjens . In 1866 she made her debut in Dublin . She made her debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London in 1868 as Siebel in Faust (with Minnie Hauk as Marguerite ). In the 1891/92 season she went to the Metropolitan Opera in New York City , where she had a total of 1,061 appearances in thirteen seasons and thus had the most appearances of all actresses in the history of the Met after Thelma Votipka .
