Matt Nix (born September 4, 1971 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American screenwriter , director and film producer .

Life

Nix first attended high school in Sebastopol and then studied at the University of California, Los Angeles . In 1997 he made the twenty-minute short film Chekhov’s Gun , for which he also wrote the script. A few more short films followed by the mid-2000s. In 2006 he developed the concept for the television series Burn Notice . The pilot , which featured Bruce Campbell and Sharon Gless among others, was bought by USA Network and commissioned for a first season with a total of twelve episodes. Since the series was a hit with audiences, additional seasons were commissioned; In 2012 the sixth season will be broadcast in the USA. Nix is ​​involved in the series in a variety of ways; he wrote the screenplay for 79 episodes, acted as executive producer on 60 episodes and directed three episodes. In 2011 he wrote and produced Burn Notice: The Fall of Sam Ax , the prequel to the series starring Bruce Campbell. In 2010, Nix developed the concept for the crime series The Good Guys . Unlike Burn Notice , however, this series only achieved moderate ratings. Fox discontinued the series after the first season with 20 episodes.

Nix is ​​the great-grandson of 1942 Oscar- nominated screenwriter Harry Chandlee .
