Matteo Tuveri (born February 23, 1977 in Oristano , Sardinia ) is an Italian writer and biographer of the Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary .

Life

Matteo Tuveri holds a degree in German and English literature and language from the University of Cagliari . He worked with the theater company Theatralia (University of Cagliari) under the direction of Filomena Campus . In October 2000 he took part in the production of Bertolt Brecht's “The Exception and the Rule” with Theatralia . Tuveri works as an editor for the Italian magazine LucidaMente , run by Rino Tripodi, and occasionally for other newspapers ( L'Eco delle Dolomiti , L'Unione Sarda , Il quotidiano della Calabria and L'Ateo ).

He received an award from the Academy of Arts in Cairo for his efforts to promote dialogue between cultures by conceiving and organizing a concert dedicated to Maria Carta (Sardinian singer) and Umm Kalthum (Egyptian singer). Tuveri is a member of the Simone de Beauvoir Society. He was a contender for several literary awards .

His research interests concern gender studies as well as Italian, German, English and Habsburg history and literature. In 2006 he took part as a lecturer at the 14th International Simone de Beauvoir Conference in Rome . He also took part in the 2006 conference La mezzaluna ed il mondo capovolto: nel cuore dell'Iran in Cagliari , and in 2009 at the Madonna di Campiglio conference . He also wrote an essay on the Sardinian visual artist Edina Altara (Brasil, 2012). His works always dealt with female figures in society and art.

Tuveri wrote the novels "Il tredicesimo tarocco" (contender for the Modello Pirandello Prize , 1997), "30 aprile 2001" (contender for the Fonopoli Prize - Parole in mov imento, 2003) and "La sabbia delle occasioni perdute" (translated: Strolling, Marguerite Yourcenar Award Contender , 2007).

In 2017 Tuveri published the book “Pioggia inversa. Storia del Diavolo e un precario “(Circumzenital rain. The story of the devil with a temporary worker). In his novel, the author tells the story of a modern Doctor Faustus , who is seen as a consequence of today's precariousness.

In 2019 he took part as an expert and biographer on the Austrian docudrama about Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary with the title "Elisabeth - Empress on the run", directed by Stefan Ludwig ( broadcast on ORF2 ). In the title role Sunnyi Melles .

“Elisabeth - Empress on the Run” is a co-production by Metafilm in collaboration with ORF , ZDF and ARTE , funded by the TV Fund Austria, Film Fund Vienna, Province of Lower Austria and the Verwertungsgesellschaft für Audiovisuelle Medien (VAM).
