Matthias Flacius the Younger

Matthias Flacius , also Matthias Flacius the Younger , called Illyricus , pseudonym Theodorus Henetus (born September 12, 1547 in Braunschweig , † April 27, 1593 in Rostock ) was a German physician, philosopher and professor at the University of Rostock .

education and study

Matthias Flacius was the son of the theologian Matthias Flacius , called Illyricus . In 1562 his father sent him to Strasbourg to study . In 1572 he came to Rostock. On April 1, 1574 he received his master's degree from the Philosophical Faculty.

academic career

In 1580 Matthias (Illyricus) Flacius was appointed Professor of Logic in Rostock by Duke Johann VII .

In 1581 Flacius was awarded a Dr. med. PhD.

In 1590 he is said to have exchanged the professorship in logic for the professorship in medicine.

Flacius died in Rostock in 1593. Little seems to be known about his private life.
