Matthias Heider (born May 18, 1966 in Lüdenscheid ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and lawyer . He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2009 .

Life and work

Matthias Heider graduated from high school in 1985 at the Zeppelin-Gymnasium Lüdenscheid . After completing basic military service in 1986, he began studying law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . He was admitted to the bar in 1995. He then worked until 2005 as legal advisor and head of the law / patents department at DKR mbh. Political party

Matthias Heider has been a CDU member since 1983. He was chairman of the Junge Union Lüdenscheid in 1985 and 1986 , then initially deputy chairman for two years, then from 1988 to 1990 chairman of the JU district association in Mark. In the 2009 federal elections , Matthias Heider succeeded Hartmut Schauerte as a direct candidate in the Olpe - Märkischer Kreis I electoral district. He prevailed against the SPD candidate Petra Crone with 47.4% of the first votes . In the 2013 federal election he was able to win 51.7% of the first votes and thus entered the Bundestag again. In 2017 Matthias Heider received 47.9% of the first votes and thus moved again as a directly elected member of the Bundestag.

In the Bundestag, Heider is Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy . For the CDU / CSU parliamentary group, he is the rapporteur for antitrust and competition law. He played a key role in the last amendment to antitrust law in spring 2017 (9th GWB amendment). From 2018 to 2019 Heider was an advisory member of the Competition Law 4.0 Commission of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. He is also a deputy member of the Committee on European Union Affairs and the Joint Committee . In addition, Matthias Heider has been chairman of the US parliamentary group since the 19th electoral term .
