Matthias Kießling

Matthias "Kies" Kießling (* in Steinheidel-Erlabrunn ) is a German singer , guitarist , keyboardist, songwriter and composer .

Life

Kießling grew up in Johanngeorgenstadt and attended the EOS "Bertolt Brecht" in Schwarzenberg / Erzgeb. where he graduated from high school. This was followed by vocational training as a construction worker in Plauen . From 1977 to 1981 he studied the technology of residential and social construction at the engineering college in Cottbus .

During his studies in Cottbus he founded the folk band Wacholder in 1978 with Scarlett Seeboldt, Jörg Kokott, Andrea Schlesewski, Steffen Junghans and Olaf Zimmermann , which was classified as a "folk art collective". As early as 1979 he and his band received official approval for independent appearances. In 1983 the first LP was released by the GDR record company Amiga .

Matthias Kießling was a member of the band until the group was temporarily dissolved in 2001. He then became a keyboardist in the German-Irish band Norland Wind .

In addition, he edited traditional Sorbian songs for the regional programs of RBB and MDR , and he also submitted new compositions in Sorbian based on texts, for example by Jurij Koch .

Works

His solo album Unfolked was CD of the month on the top song list in January 2004 .
