Matthias Kringe

Matthias Kringe (* 1961 in Siegen ) is a German author and cartoonist.

Life

Kringe was born in Siegen. He studied general literature, history and art history and graduated with a master's degree in 1981. Matthias Kringe has worked as a political cartoonist for the Westfalenpost since his studies .

Since 1982 he has published the " Dilldappen -Kalender" with comics on Siegerland plateau , which is particularly well known in the region. Until 1990 it was completely black and white, from 1991 to 1999 it was black and white with one or two colored pages and since 2000 it has been completely colored.

Kringe is also a permanent employee of the German MAD magazine , especially for the cover design, Alfred E. Neumann - Gallery, as well as comic parodies and satirical style copies.

Works

Matthias Kringe works as an author and illustrator for various magazines including:

• TV highlights, Moviestar and DVD Special (MPW),
• Pettson & Findus as author and design of Pettson & Findus licensed objects (puzzle books, sticker albums, etc.)

He created the characters:

• Sparky (is published, among other things, on the children's page of the Siegener Zeitung on Saturdays ),
• the Panini-Dino , for the children's magazine animals - friends for life ,
• Pepper, the pony for horses - friends for life

and illustrated books e.g. B .:

• the Yiddish edition of George Orwell's Animal Farm and the Latin edition of Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus .

He also created Spass Wars Comics, a parody of Star Wars .

Others

He designed the logo of the Netphens leisure pool and created the mascots for the Netphener Keltenweg . For the waste disposal company Siegen (ESI) he produced the animated short film In the Empire of the Toilet Frogs , which explains the work of a sewage treatment plant .
