Matthias Mink (born July 31, 1967 in Villingen ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player .

Career as a player

Matthias Mink started playing football at the DJK Villingen. Then he came to FV Donaueschingen . In 1992 he was signed by SC Fortuna Köln . In seven seasons he played 156 second division games , in which he scored four goals. On June 13, 1999 he ended his active professional career in the jersey of Fortuna Cologne.

Career as a coach

Mink began his career as a coach in the 2006/07 season at the Alemannia Aachen youth training center . In July 2007 he became the coach of Fortuna Cologne and rose with his team at the end of the season in the newly founded NRW League (Oberliga Nordrhein-Westfalen). In April 2010, Mink successfully completed his soccer teacher training course at the Hennes-Weisweiler Academy of the Cologne Sports University . In the fourth year as head coach at Fortuna Cologne (2010/11 season), he was promoted to the Regionalliga-West . For the 2011/12 season Mink was the head coach of the U-23 team at Bayer 04 Leverkusen , which also played in the Regionalliga-West. From the 2012/13 season he worked alongside Ralf Minge and was still jointly responsible for the U-23. At the beginning of 2014 he moved to KSV Hessen Kassel and became head coach there. On May 13, 2015, he and his team defeated VfB Giessen 2-1 and won the Hessen Cup. His contract ran until the summer of 2016.

From May 2016 to March 2019 Mink was a trainer at TSV Steinbach . On May 21, 2018, he won the Hessen Cup with TSV Steinbach and thus made it into the DFB Cup. In July 2020 he took over the coaching position at the regional league club FC 08 Homburg .

Private

Mink is married and has three children.
