Mathias Schipper (born September 23, 1957 in Castrop-Rauxel ) is a former German football player .
Career
Mathias Schipper made his debut in the Schalke professional team, still as an A-youth, on January 17, 1976 in the game against Hamburger SV (0: 1). This was his only use in the 1975/76 season . With the A-youth he became German champion in 1976. In 1978/79 he had fought for a regular place in the Bundesliga team and played all 34 games, but moved to Alemannia Aachen in the 2nd Bundesliga after the season , due to disagreements with the Schalke club management. After three years in the 2nd Bundesliga with Aachen, Schipper switched back to Schalke 04 , which had been relegated and promoted in the meantime. In 1982/83 Schalke was relegated again - this time with Schipper as a player. Once again, the club managed to gain direct promotion. In the following years he continued to play as a regular player with his club in the Bundesliga. In 1987/88 , however, the next relegation took place with a last place and Schipper ended his career after that season. Overall, Schipper played 189 Bundesliga games (6 goals) and 139 second division games (8 goals) as a professional.

After football
At the end of his career in 1988, Schipper trained as a physiotherapist and opened a practice in Gladbeck in 1994 . In 2017 he was elected by the members of FC Schalke 04 eV to the election committee, which decides on the admission of candidates for the election of the supervisory board. Schipper is also active for the traditional FC Schalke 04 team.
