Mattis Stenshagen (born August 13, 1996 ) is a Norwegian cross-country skier .

Career

Stenshagen, who competes for the Follebu Skiklubb, mainly took part in junior races until 2016. He finished 35th in the skiathlon and eighth place in the sprint at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2015 in Almaty . The following year he won the silver medal in the 15 km freestyle and the gold medal with the relay at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2016 in Rasnov . In March 2016 he became Norwegian junior champion over 10 km freestyle. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season, he made his debut in the cross-country skiing world cup at the Nordic Opening in Lillehammer , which he finished in 31st place and scored his first world cup points with 24th place over 10 km freestyle. In the further course of the season he came in the Scandinavian Cup three times under the top ten, including third place in the sprint in Lillehammer and over 15 km classic in Lahti and finished fourth in the overall standings at the end of the season. At the 2017 U23 World Championships in Soldier Hollow , he achieved 47th place in the sprint. In the 2017/18 season he achieved five top ten placings, including place in the sprint and first place in the 30 km mass start race in Piteå, seventh place in the overall ranking of the Scandinavian Cup. At the U23 World Championships 2018 in Goms , he won the gold medal over 15 km classic. The following season he came in the Scandinavian Cup seven times in the top ten. He won the 30 km mass start race in Vuokatti and won the overall standings at the end of the season.
