Matty Askin

Matty Askin (* 24. December 1988 in Barnsley , England , as Matthew Askin ) is a British boxer in the cruiserweight division .

Amateur career

Askin boxed with the amateurs for the Life Amateur Boxing Club and became ABA Champion of the Elite in 2008 . He defeated in the semifinals, which was held in Sheffield , Luke Robinson and in the final, which took place in London , Ricky Newlands each unanimously on points. At this championship Tyson Fury , George Groves , Liam Smith and Luke Campbell also won gold.

Professional career

Askin made his debut in 2008 with a unanimous points win over Paul Bonson. He won the vacant Central Area Title of the association BBBofC on March 2nd, 2011, when he was able to stop Neil Dawson in the 6th round in a fight scheduled for 10 rounds.

On April 21, 2012 Askin fought against JonLewis Dickinson for the vacant English championship belt and suffered his first bankruptcy. In November of the same year he lost to Poland's Krzysztof Głowacki for the WBO intercontinental title by knockout.

Against the until then unbeaten China Clarke, Askin competed for the English championship title for the second time in April 2013 and won by a unanimous decision of the judges.

Askin competed for the vacant British championship against his compatriot Craig Kennedy , who had been unbeaten until then, and knocked him out classically in round 6.
