Maulachgau
The Maulachgau or Mulachgau was a medieval district in what is now northeastern Baden-Württemberg and northwestern Bavaria , named after the Maulach , a tributary of the Jagst . The Gau comprised an area in which the places Crailsheim , Ilshofen and Langenburg are located today . The city of Rothenburg ob der Tauber is sometimes assigned to the Maulachgau, but this assignment is uncertain. The count's seat was probably the Stöckenburg near Vellberg , but possibly also the Flügelau Castle .
The Maulachgau is mentioned for the first time in a document from Emperor Ludwig the Pious from the year 822.
Counts
1024 and 1033 was a Heinrich, probably from the family of the Counts of Lobenhausen , Count in Maulachgau. Other counts are not mentioned in a document.

Other spellings are, for example, Mulahgowe , Muleggowi or Mulagcowe .
