Maurice Arbez (born September 22, 1944 in Les Rousses ) is a former French ski jumper and today's ski jumping official.
Career
Arbez made his international debut at the Four Hills Tournament in 1963/64 . However, he did not get beyond 95th place overall. He played his best tour a year later with the Four Hills Tournament 1964/65 , which he finished in 60th place overall.
At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo in 1966 , Arbez jumped from the large hill with jumps on 71 and 68.5 meters to 59th place. From the normal hill on Holmenkollen he landed on the 55th place with jumps on 61.5 and 67.5 meters.
In the Four Hills Tournament 1967/68 he did not come to the top ranks again and ended the tour in 93rd place overall. At the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble , Arbez jumped from the normal hill to a weak 41st place. He was also unable to convince on the large hill and only landed on rank 50.
His last international tournament played Arbez with the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1970 in Štrbské Pleso . From the large hill he jumped twice to 71.5 meters and thus finished 66th. From the normal hill he finished 55th.
Even after the end of his active career, Arbez remained loyal to ski jumping as an official. He was a member of the jury at the Ski Jumping World Cup in Oslo in March 1999 . At the Ski Jumping Grand Prix in Courchevel in 2004 he was also part of the five-person team of judges. At the Gex Ski Club, he is also responsible for promoting young talent.
Maurice Arbez is the brother of cross-country skier and biathlete Victor Arbez .
