Maurice Bouval (born March 9, 1863 in Toulouse , France , † 1916 ) was a French sculptor .

Life

Bouval was a student of the painter and sculptor Alexandre Falguière and was active as an artist from 1880 to 1914. He created numerous bronze statues as well as chandeliers, candelabra and table lamps in the Art Nouveau style . In addition to some of his bronze designs, the Vienna manufactory Friedrich Goldscheider also produced terracottas based on his models. Bouval designed the company logo "Sculpture" for Goldscheider, which was not only used as a manufactory signet on products between 1900 and 1920, but was also produced in various sizes as an advertising sign for shops selling products from Goldscheider. He was a member of the Société des Artistes Français and presented the works Vamireh en chasse and Les Raisins at their Salon in 1895 . He showed other works at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900 .

For the top of the Casa de la Cultura in Buenos Aires , Argentina , Bouval designed a five meter high and four and a half ton statue of a female figure.
