Maurice Jaubert

Maurice Jacques Joseph Eugène Jaubert (born January 3, 1900 in Nice , † June 19, 1940 in Baccarat in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department ) was a French composer .

After completing his legal training, the son of a famous lawyer wrote orchestral works, chamber, ballet, theater and film music in his early twenties. He was on the intellectual left in France in the 1930s and composed accordingly committed, popular pieces.

Jaubert also set films to music, including by René Clair , Jean Vigo and Marcel Carné .

François Truffaut used music by him posthumously for four of his films: L'histoire d'Adèle H. ( The story of Adèle H. , 1975), L'argent de poche ( pocket money , 1975), L'homme qui aimait les femmes ( The man who loved women , 1977) and La chambre verte ( The green room , 1978).

Jaubert died in a military hospital after receiving fatal wounds in Azerailles , Meurthe et Moselle.
