Maurice Lafforgue

Maurice Lafforgue (born March 26, 1915 in Luchon ; † 1970 ibid) was a French ski racer . Lafforgue was the first Frenchman to win a medal at Alpine World Ski Championships.

Lafforgue came from the small town of Luchon in the Pyrenees . In 1931, at the age of 17, he was the first French champion in slalom. He achieved the greatest success of his career in 1937 at the Alpine World Ski Championships in Chamonix . There he won the silver medal in the downhill and the silver medal in the combination .

Lafforgue was married to the Swedish ski racer May Nilsson . Her twin daughters Ingrid Lafforgue and Britt Lafforgue and son-in-law Henri Duvillard were also successful in this sport.
