Maurice Rostand

Maurice Rostand (born May 26, 1891 in Paris , † February 21, 1968 in Ville-d'Avray ) was a French writer (novels, dramas, poetry). He was the son of the playwright Edmond Rostand and the poet Rosemonde Gérard and brother of the biologist and influential intellectual Jean Rostand .

Life

As a 19-year-old Rostand published his first volume of poetry, Conversation avec la gloire, poème dialogué in 1910 . Interrupted only by the war years, numerous novels, dramas and other volumes of poetry followed in quick succession until the early 1950s.

In 1933 he became literary director of the weekly Séduction .

He was friends with Jean Cocteau and Lucien Daudet . In addition, he was one of the prominent homosexual personalities who frequented the literary salons of the interwar period .

He published his autobiography Confession d'un demi-siècle in 1948. The writer is buried in the Cimetière de Passy celebrity cemetery in Paris .
