Cimetière de Passy
The Cimetière de Passy is one of the famous cemeteries in Paris , it is located at 2 rue du Commandant Schloesing in the 16th arrondissement of the French capital.
At the beginning of the 19th century, several new cemeteries had to replace the old ones in Paris. Outside the borders of the capital at that time, the Cimetière de Montmartre in the north, the Cimetière du Père Lachaise in the east and the Cimetière du Montparnasse in the south. The Cimetière de Passy was created in the city itself.
Opened in 1820 in the upscale residential and business districts of the rive droite , near the avenue des Champs-Élysées , the cemetery became the burial place of the Parisian aristocracy in 1874: it is the only cemetery in the city whose funeral hall is heated.
After the First World War , the cemetery wall was provided with a bas-relief in honor of the soldiers. The Cimetière de Passy is shaded by chestnuts and is located in the immediate vicinity of the Palais de Chaillot .
