The Mawson Glacier is a mighty, up to 8 km wide glacier in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It flows from the polar plateau north of the Trinity Nunatak and the Kirkwood Range in an easterly direction to the Scott coast and flows into the Ross Sea in the form of the Nordenskjöld ice tongue .
Participants in the Nimrod expedition (1907–1909) led by the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton discovered him. It is named after the Australian geologist and polar explorer Douglas Mawson (1882-1958), a participant in the expedition and later head of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) and the BANZARE (1929-1931).
