Max Absmeier

Max Absmeier (born March 27, 1920 in Karpfham ; † August 22, 2012 in Burghausen ) was a German Roman Catholic prelate .

Life

Absmeier was ordained a priest on June 29, 1950 and was a cooperator in parish churches, pastor in Frauenau (1959/69) and pastor in St. Nikola in Passau (1969/1979).

From 1979 to 1995 he was provost and parish priest at St. Philip and St. James in Altötting.

During this time he combined the duties of the pilgrimage pastor with intensive parish work. He campaigned strongly for the charitable church institutions in Altötting, such as the children's home, the home for the disabled and the meeting center. He played a leading role in the major events during this time, the Pope's visit in 1980 and the anniversary on the occasion of 500 years of pilgrimage to Altötting in 1989.
