Max Karl August Bärenfänger (born January 1, 1860 in Munich ; † 1929 there ) was a German portrait painter, etcher, lithographer and wood cutter.

Life

Bärenfänger studied from October 11, 1880 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Ludwig von Löfftz , Johann Leonhard Raab and Nikolaus Gysis .

After completing his studies, he worked in Munich as a portrait and genre painter, etcher, lithographer and wood cutter. In some cases he copied works by his teachers or other artists such as B. Wilhelm von Diez .

Bear catcher belonged to the Munich Art Association. From 1890 to 1919 he exhibited his works almost every year in the Munich Glass Palace . In 1896 he took part in the International Graphic Exhibition in Vienna.
