Max Cabanes (born September 22, 1947 in Béziers ) is a French comic artist .

Career

His first drawings were published in Record magazine in 1972 . Work for Pilote magazine and others followed. In 1975 the series Dans les Villages appeared in Tousse Bourin , which was later continued in Fluide glacial . Pilote published the series in which Cabanes reveals himself "as a great draftsman of nature and the animal world", from 1982 under the title L'Anti Jôle . From 1978 he worked on the erotic series Le Roman Renard , for which Jean-Claude Forest wrote the lyrics. More erotic works followed, which appeared in various magazines. From 1987 onwards, Cabanes processed his own memories of youth in Colin Maillard and Les Années pattes d'eph . For Flirts he worked with his wife Sylvie Brasquet, who wrote the scenario of the story about a young girl from a conservative family and her problems with puberty.

Another field of work is the illustration of books.

style

Max Cabanes draws realistically and works with pen, colored pencils and wax crayons . While Dans le Villages is black and white and has a very graphic effect, he uses color in his later works, ranging from pencils to painterly used watercolors , which give the works a washed-out color. Cabanes uses wax chalk or charcoal to delimit the colored areas .

Awards

In 1990 he received the Grand Prix de la Ville d'Angoulême at the International Comics Festival in Angoulême and the Prix des Libraires Spécialisées et Grand Prix de la Ville de Grenoble . In 2010 Max Cabanes received the Prix Polar'Encontre for the adaptation of Jean-Patrick Manchette's thriller "Blutprinzessin".
