Max Crone

Max Crone (born April 4, 1862 in Witten , Ruhr, † May 19, 1939 in Heidelberg ) was a German theologian and writer.

Life

Crone was the son of the Markscheider von Witten / Ruhr. After graduating from high school, Crone began to study philology and German at the University of Bonn in 1882 ; later switched to the same subjects in Berlin . After completing this course, it enrolled at the University of Heidelberg to study theology.

Then worked for the Baden regional church and was promoted to vicar a few years later and transferred to Walldorf near Heidelberg. In 1888 Crone was promoted to parish administrator of Merchingen , and in the following year he became pastor of Hochstetten near Karlsruhe . In 1895 Crone was appointed pastor of Niedereggen near Donaueschingen .

In 1904, Crone left the parish, was promoted to secular status and became a volunteer at the University Library in Freiburg im Breisgau. In 1911, he was even able to do a doctorate at the university on a topic of literary history. In 1912 Crone was appointed curator of the library and in 1927 he retired with the rank of senior librarian.

Max Crone died on May 19, 1939 in Heidelberg at the age of 77.
