Max Hölzel (born June 29, 1906 in Lichtenegg , Wels district , † December 21, 1941 near Kaluga ) was an Austrian putschist and politician ( NSDAP ).

Live and act

After attending the elementary school and the community school in Wels, Hölzel learned the shoemaking trade. From 1925 to 1929 he was a member of the armed forces as a corporal in the Alpine Jäger Regiment No. 8 in Wels. He then worked 1929-1934 as a security guard at the security guard in Vienna . On September 6, 1934, Hölzel was arrested for participating in the failed July coup of the Austrian National Socialists against the Dollfuss government and sentenced to death by hanging by the military court in Vienna. He was later pardoned to life imprisonment, before finally being released on February 18, 1938, a month beforeAustria joined the German Reich and was released from prison in the Stein an der Donau prison.

In the spring of 1938, Hölzel joined the Gestapo as a civil servant at the Vienna Police Department . In the SS , to which he had been a member since November 1, 1937, he achieved at least the rank of Untersturmführer (SS No. 310.494).

From April 1938 until his death in 1941, Hölzel was a member of the Reichstag for Austria . His mandate was then taken over by Karl Kowarik .

Hölzel fell in December 1941 in World War II .
