Max König (brewery owner)

Max König (born September 19, 1894 in Duisburg , † September 6, 1983 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) was a German brewery owner.

Life

After graduation in 1912 at the high school in Duisburg-Ruhrort studied Max King at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg and the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn economics . In 1913 he became a member of the Corps Rhenania Bonn . After the First World War , in which he participated as a lieutenant in the reserve, he continued his studies at the University of Frankfurt and the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg . In 1920 he was promoted to Dr. rer. pole. PhD.

After completing his studies, he became a co-owner of the König brewery founded by his grandfather Theodor König . In 1925 he became a board member of the company. Together with his cousin Richard König, he expanded the brewery's sales area beyond the Duisburg area and established the König Pilsener as a premium brand throughout the Rhineland in just a few years . After the Second World War , he consistently expanded König Pilsener as a national beer brand. In 1966 he retired from operational management. When he died, the company was established as a leader in the pilsner sector and among private breweries.

König was a member of Deutsche Bank's Essen-Dortmund-Duisburg Advisory Board .

Max König died on September 6, 1983 in Mülheim / Ruhr.
