Max Mohr (General)

Max Mohr (born December 29, 1884 in Neumünster , † August 31, 1966 in Hamburg ) was a German officer , most recently General der Flieger and from 1929 to 1932 head of the secret Aviation School in Lipetsk .

Life

On March 14, 1904, Mohr joined the Grenadier Regiment "King Friedrich I" (4th East Prussian) No. 5 as an officer candidate . From 1910 to 1913 he served as a battalion adjutant and court officer in the 175 infantry regiment. In October 1913 he was assigned to the Halberstadt Aviation School, from May 1914 he was an aircraft pilot, on December 24, 1914 he was promoted to captain . In early 1919 Mohr was interned in Poland for a few months.

From September 1919 to February 1920 Mohr was a company commander in the Görlitz Freikorps , and then head of various Reichswehr companies. In October 1923 he was promoted to aviation advisor in the staff of the 5th Division , a position he held until 1929. In February 1927 he was promoted to major .

Mohr was decommissioned between December 1, 1929 and February 28, 1932 , during which time he was in charge of the secret flying school and testing facility of the Reichswehr in Lipetsk . On March 1, 1932, he was reactivated in the army and at the same time promoted to lieutenant colonel. In 1934 he transferred to the Air Force, where Mohr became department head at Luftkreiskommando V. Between July 1935 and March 1936 he completed further training and successively became the commander of Luftgau commandos 9 (Hanover), 3 and X (Hamburg). In January 1938 Mohr was promoted to major general, from July he was commanding general and commander in Luftgau XI (Hanover) and from February to the end of April 1939 in Luftgau I (Königsberg). From May 1939 he was an officer z. b. V. the Reich Aviation Ministry (RLM) and the Air Force High Command (OKL).

At the beginning of the war, on September 1, 1939, Mohr was summoned to the Reich Court Martial. On October 1, 1939, he was promoted to lieutenant general and appointed judge at the Imperial Court Martial. From August 1940 to July 1943 he was inspector of the Air Force Control Inspection in Bourges and from July 1943 to January 1944 Air Force Representative for Air Fleet 3 . Mohr spent the last months of his service in the OKL's Führerreserve; on May 31, 1944, he went out of service.
