Max Reinhold Weber

Max Reinhold Weber (born July 25, 1897 in Menzikon , † December 13, 1982 in Collonge-Bellerive ) was a Swiss sculptor , painter , draftsman and lithographer .

life and work

Weber came from a family of lithographers from Menzikon and joined the graphic department of the Zurich School of Applied Arts in 1913 during his apprenticeship as a lithographer . In 1919 he began training as a chromolithographer in Geneva , and from 1920 onwards he devoted himself to painting and 1923 to sculpture. From 1945 to 1963 Weber worked as a sculptor at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva .

Weber received a federal art grant in 1925 and 1928 . In 1936 he represented Switzerland at the Venice Biennale and in 1937 he exhibited at the World Exhibition in Paris in the Swiss Pavilion. In 1937 Weber was awarded first prize for his draft of the "Wehranleihe-Fünfliber".
