Max Rohr (singer)

Max Rohr ( 1875 - 1917 in Munich ) was a German opera singer ( tenor ), and stage actor .

Life

Rohr made his debut at the Detmold court theater in 1901. From 1902 to 1903 he trained his voice further and was then from 1903 to 1904 at the City Theater of Landshut and from 1904 to 1905 at the City Theater of Regensburg. After a successful guest performance, he was engaged at the Carl-Theater, where he stayed until 1910.

At the Carl-Theater he was involved in numerous operettas, including the world premieres of Die Schützenliesel by Edmund Eysler (1905) and as "Jonel" in Gypsy Love by Franz Lehár (1910).

From 1910 to 1913 he was a member of the Raimund Theater in Vienna , and from 1913 to 1914 of the Johann Strauss Theater . In 1915 he went to the Theater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich. He stayed there until his suicide in 1917. In Munich he only worked as an operetta singer, as he was particularly successful in plays by Franz Lehár, Leo Fall , Oscar Straus , Emmerich Kálmán and Edmund Eysler.
