Max Tobler
Max Tobler (born June 3, 1876 in St. Gallen ; † April 13, 1929 in Zurich ) was a Swiss zoologist , doctor , journalist and political activist .
Life
Max Tobler was born the son of a businessman in St. Gallen. He studied zoology at the Universities of Geneva , Würzburg and Zurich ; In 1901 he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. He then worked as a researcher in Naples and Giessen and as a teacher in England . From 1904 to 1910 he was an editor of popular law . From 1906 to 1908 he also edited the journal Polis . From 1910 to 1914 he studied medicine at the universities of Berlin , Munich and Zurich. From 1916 to 1929 he worked as a doctor with his own practice.
Tobler belonged to the SP from 1903 to 1921 , and to the KPS from 1927 . From 1904 to 1908 he presided over the Zurich Workers' Union. 1905 was a co-founder of the Antimilitarist League. From 1923 to 1929 he was President of the Red Aid. Tobler was a nonconformist and was close to revolutionary syndicalism . He was closely acquainted with Fritz Brupbacher .
