Max von Mauthner
Max von Mauthner (born July 22, 1838 in Prague , † December 28, 1904 in Vienna ) was an Austrian businessman and politician.
He was the son of Israel Mauthner (1800-1857), a wealthy Jewish merchant in Prague (from 1848 in Vienna), and brother of Josef Mauthner , Philipp von Mauthner and Ludwig Mauthner .
Mauthner was the sole owner of the Wienersdorfer Malzfabrik Mauthner . In 1869 he was elected to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was President of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 1892 to 1904 and Director of the First Austrian Spar-Casse from 1899 to 1904.
From 1879 to 1889 he was in the Reichsrat. There he was significantly involved in the debates on social security laws and in customs and tax issues and made a contribution to promoting small businesses and their organizations in Vienna and Lower Austria. From 1899 he was a lifelong member of the manor house.
He was vice-president of the Austrian Central-Boden-Credit-Bank and on the board of directors of Anker-Versicherung and was curator of the Austrian Museum for Art and Industry.
From 1902 he was Baron von Mauthner.
