Maximilian Mayla

Maximilian Mayla (born June 22, 1730 in Loosdorf in Lower Austria; † September 19 or 20, 1799 in Königshof in Burgenland ) was an Austrian Cistercian and 57th abbot of Heiligenkreuz Abbey .

Life

Maximilian took his vows on September 8th, 1750 and celebrated his first prayer on September 30th, 1753 . He initially taught theology in the monastery, then was parish administrator in Jennersdorf from 1758 to 1761 , administrator in St. Gotthard from 1762 to 1767 and subprior from 1767 to 1771. For the next three years he managed Gut Trumau and from 1774 to 1779 Niederleis . In 1779 Mayla was appointed court master in Vienna and remained in this position until 1781. He administered Trumau again and was appointed Commendatabbot of the monastery in 1788 . When Marian II Reutter was canonically elected abbot in 1790 , Mayla was entrusted with the administration of the royal court , where he died.
