Maximilian Nistler

Maximilian Nistler (nickname Max, born September 1, 1877 in Zebau , Bohemia , † January 19, 1911 in Vienna-Penzing ) was an Austrian high school teacher and Roman provincial archaeologist .

Max Nistler studied Classical Philology at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1902. He then worked as a teacher at the Sophiengymnasium in Vienna and from 1908 at the Vienna VII State Higher School.

He was active in the field of research on the Roman Limes in Austria. He processed finds from the Favianis fort , worked with Maximilian von Groller-Mildensee in the Albing legionary camp and carried out excavations in Mauer-Öhling ( Locus Felicis ) between 1906 and 1910 .
