Cebiv (German Zebau ) is a municipality with 281 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in the Czech Republic . It is located nine kilometers north of Stříbro at an altitude of 471 m above sea level. M. in the valley of Kozolupský potok and belongs to the Okres Tachov .

history

The first mention of the place from 1115 is believed to be a forgery of the Kladrau monastery , as it is both spatially separated from the monastery and the development of the place has no relation to the monastery. A document from 1379 names Hrděboj as the owner of Cebiv.

In 1543 there was a fortress that Jan Drzdéř von Hrádek acquired from Jiřík von Zádub. In 1603 the Drzdéř Cebiv sold to Jindřich Strojetický of Strojetice, whose property came in 1646 to the Counts of Vrtba , who were related by marriage to them and who united the lords of Zebau and Křimice. In 1657 the fortress burned down. In 1712 Maximilian Karl Albert zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rochefort acquired Zebau. The renaissance castle of Cebiv was built on the site of the Gothic walls , a square building with a side length of 21 m, the outer shape of which has not been changed since a renovation in the west wing in 1766.

Zebau became part of the Weseritz rule , to which he belonged until the patrimonial rule was abolished . The place was parish after Gosolup . In 1901 the place received a railway connection through the local line Neuhof – Weseritz . In 1939 there were 413 people in Zebau.

In 1945 the princes Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rochefort were expropriated and the castle has since fallen into disrepair. In 1993 it was decided to keep the castle, but no exact date was given. It is still unsecured and unprotected against the effects of wind and weather due to the broken windows.

Culture and sights

In addition to the castle, there are two baroque statues of St. John Nepomuk and the Virgin Mary.

The ruins of Gutštejn Castle rise above the Hadovka valley , two kilometers northeast of Bezemín .
