The regular square village , first verifiable in 1365, was a settlement of the Chods . In 1555 the place is mentioned in the land register of the Tachau rule. at that time 50 families lived here.
In 1726 the chapel of the Holy Trinity built on the village square was consecrated, which was significantly expanded in the years 1781 - 83 and elevated to a parish church in 1856. The branch church in Promenhof belonged to it . The place belonged to the lordship Plan, which operated silver mining near the village in the 17th century . In 1870 Hinterkotten had 88 houses and 582 inhabitants. 175 people lived in 33 houses in the Khoau district. In 1930 official statistics led to a total of 710 inhabitants and 129 houses.
