history
The first mention of Kostelec comes from the year 1352. The vast village is probably much older than can be proven by historical sources. According to legend, the origin of the place goes back to the Bishop Adalbert of Prague , who is said to have donated a church here on his journey from Regensburg to Prague in 992 .
The oldest building is the church of John the Baptist on the outskirts of the village from 1356. The Gothic church was rebuilt in the 18th century in the Baroque style, but has largely retained its original shape. The original village was built on a slope below the church and does not show any regular structures.
The parish village of Kostelzen belonged to the Kladrau monastery until the abolition of patrimonial rule . In 1939, 352 people lived in the place including the single strata Alfredshof ( Alfrédov ), Hammelhof ( Beraní Dvůr ) and Senetitz.
In the second half of the 20th century, an upper village was created. The residential buildings built with contemporary comfort, however, do not fit in architecturally with the village appearance. In the period from January 1, 1980 to January 1, 1989 Kostelec was incorporated into Kladruby . In 2002 Kostelec - excluding the districts - had 302 inhabitants.
There is a golf course in Alfrédov.
