Obora (German Thiergarten ) is a municipality with 149 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers northwest of Tachov at an altitude of 620 m above sea level. M. in the Upper Palatinate Forest (Český les).

geography

Below the village, the Mies is dammed in the Lučina drinking water reservoir . There is a border crossing with the neighboring German town of Bärnau at the deserted Pavlův Studenec .

history

Thiergarten was first mentioned in 1660. During the reign of Tachau under Baron Johann Philipp Husmann , an enclosure with a hunting lodge was built here, and a forester's lodge was built around 1650. After the Windisch-Graetz family took over the rule , the enclosure was greatly expanded. Up to 350 large game, up to 130 fallow deer and up to 50 wild boar were kept.

The place had grown to 21 properties by 1722. Initially, pastoral care was provided by the Dechantei in Tachau , from 1787 the residents of Thiergarten belonged to the parish in Brand .

The number of houses grew to 76 with 409 inhabitants by 1930, and in 1939 there were even 445 people in Thiergarten, including the Paulushütte district.

After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and until 1945 belonged to the Tachau district .

Community structure

The municipality Obora consists of the districts Dolní Výšina ( Niederringelberg ) and Obora. Basic settlement units are Dolní Výšina, Obora and Pavlův Studenec 2 ( Paulusbrunn ).

The municipality is divided into the cadastral districts Obora u Tachova and Pavlův Studenec 2. In the municipality, which also includes large forest areas up to the Bavarian border, there are the villages and residential areas Dolní Obora ( Wallerhof ), Horní Obora ( Flötz ), which were closed after 1945 , Pavlová Huť ( Paulushütte ) and Pavlův Studenec ( Paulusbrunn ).
