The Lučina dam (Czech údolní nádrž Lučina ) is a drinking water dam in the Czech Republic . It is located five km west of the town of Tachov and dams the Mies at river kilometer 96.35.

geography

The dam is located on the municipal boundary between Tachov and Halže in the Okres Tachov . The reservoir extends over 2.42 kilometers to the northwest and, in addition to the Mže valley, also includes the estuary valleys of its tributaries Sklářský potok and Lužní potok.

Surrounding places are Halže and Svobodka in the north, Světce in the east, Tachov in the southeast, Mýto , Mýtský Mlýn and Milíře in the south, Na Křižovatce, Obora in the west and Dolní Výšina and Horní Výšina in the north-west.

history

A water treatment plant was built on the Mže before the dam was built. The dam was built between 1970 and 1975, with the town of Lučina ( Sorghof ) to the south of the future reservoir being demolished. The dam serves primarily as a drinking water reservoir for the regions around Tachov, Bor and Planá as well as Stříbro and Kladruby . Their water is also given away as process water for industry and agriculture, at the same time the dam ensures a minimum amount of water in the river near Stříbro. In 1996 a hydropower plant with two Kaplan turbines was built.

Because it is used as a drinking water reservoir, bathing or driving on the reservoir is not permitted.

Building

A rock embankment made of the gneiss rock from the area with a reinforced concrete shell on the water side acts as a dam . On the valley side, the dam consists of a coarse stone plan without vegetation. The water is released via a tower in the middle of the valley, which is connected to the dam body. The water drives a small hydroelectric power station with Kaplan turbines in the two outlets through the manhole overflow.

The dam has a length of 183.5 m and a crown width of 4 m. The dam height is 23.5 m. The water area of the dam is 86.2 hectares, the length of the dam is 2.42 km.
