Ctiboř (German Stiebenreith ) is a municipality with 319 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) in the Czech Republic . It is located 3 km northwest of Tachov at an altitude of 595 m above sea level. M. in the Upper Palatinate Forest (Český les).
history
The first documentary mention of Stiebenreith comes from the year 1375. In 1465 the place "Stibesreut" is mentioned in the Eger city archive. The Czech name Ctiboř probably goes back to the Slavic founder of the village of the same name. A castle is mentioned in the 15th and 16th centuries, the manor apparently being in the area of the village square.
Stiebenreith belonged to the former Austrian monarchy from 1526 under the rule of the Habsburgs. The border with Bavaria ran a few kilometers from the village in the west.
In the 17th century, the planner's tax role numbered 14 farmers, 16 chalupners and 7 gardeners (small farmers). In 1788 there were 57 house numbers in the village and a farm belonging to the town of Tachau (no. 10). Until the abolition of patrimonial rule in 1850, the village was divided between the Lords of Plan and Tachau .
From 1850 Stiebenreith was a village in the Plan district and was assigned to the Tachau district in 1910 .
In 1939 367 people lived in the place, with a total of 79 house numbers.
Stiebenreith was essentially a farming village. The pastoral care for the villagers was initially carried out by the Dechantei Tachau, but many villagers went to church in the nearby village of Hals . In 1926, a pseudo-baroque church was built in Stiebenreith according to the plans of the architect A. Schneider on Halser Straße. A separate cemetery was built above the village in 1916.
The school was built in the 1850s and one floor was added in 1899.
After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and until 1945 belonged to the Tachau district .
The Second World War ended for the German population of the village with the loss of their homeland. In the autumn of 1946, all of the forcibly evacuated Germans had left the village.
In 1960 Březí was incorporated . From January 1, 1980 to December 31, 1991 Ctiboř and Březí were districts of Halže . At the beginning of 1992 the municipality regained its independence. The church was restored in 1993.
Community structure
The community Ctiboř consists of the districts Březí ( Pirkau ) and Ctiboř, which also form cadastral districts.
