Březí (German: Pirkau ) is a district of the municipality of Ctiboř in the Czech Republic . It is located 5 km north of the urban area of Tachov (Tachau) in the Upper Palatinate Forest (Český les).

history

The village "Pirckaw" for the first time in Tachauer city Urbar mention of the 1552nd During the Thirty Years' War the place had eleven controllable farms in 1637, a little later in 1640 only five farms. In 1788 18 house numbers were counted, as many in 1880. At last there were 25 house numbers in the village, the population reached its highest level in 1930 with 121 people. The Pirkauer Weiher (Brücklteich) was partly in the municipality.

The village Pirkau, mundartlich Pirkn called, was until the dissolution of patrimonial part of the manorial Tachau. It belonged to the Austrian monarchy under the rule of the Habsburgs.

The pastoral care for the villagers was carried out by the Dechantei Tachau . In many cases, however, the villagers went to the church in the village of Heiligenkreuz, which is about 2 km closer . The village had its own school at number 21, which was inaugurated on October 26, 1890. The Tachau prince Windisch-Graetz had contributed to the financing and paid the so-called hunting lease schilling for 12 years.

After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and until 1945 belonged to the Tachau district .

The Second World War ended for the German population of the village with the invasion of American troops on May 5, 1945. In autumn 1946 all Germans who were forcibly evacuated had left the village.

During the municipal reform of 1960, the formerly independent municipality was incorporated into Ctiboř u Tachova and together with this place on January 1, 1980, to Halže . In 1991 the village had two residents. Since January 1, 1992 Březí belongs to the independent municipality Ctiboř again.

Until 1991, the place - like the neighboring village of Štokov - was on a military training area, which had a negative impact on the development of the place. In 2001 Březí consisted of one house and had four residents.
